INTRODUCTION I would like to look into the definitions or meaning of sustainability in business, strategic planning and CSR, before I commence fully on this report. Strategic planning:-Its the concise and clear plan that is put in place for a business to achieve and meet its objectives and goals if the organisation wants to survive, succeed and thrive. Sustainability: according to (Cavusgil, 2017) Meeting humanitys needs without harming the future generations. Corporate Social Responsibility : definition hasnt been widely accepted according to (Godfrey and Hatch, 2007), but its definition simply is corporate social responsibility and this is not just limited to multinational companies but to micro, small medium sized enterprises as well, in that it has a responsibility to its stakeholders and shareholders in dealing with their needs in ensuring that trading is ethical and that employees have rights within the organisation, aiding the   the community as well is impacted positively   and that the environment is not negatively affected with their business dealings and no illegal dealings in their transactions but home and abroad. DIFFERENT APPROACHES OF MICRO, SMEs AND CORPORATE BUSINESS TO BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, PLANNING AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY According to (Eweje, 2014) findings   is that Multinational enterprise that are in operation in developing countries do contribute to job creation growth and development and poverty alleviation there, but when compared to developed countries they do not pay much attention to CSR and sustainability. In SMEs operations since they do not usually have enough capital and have fewer employees compared to corporate business enterprise, this makes them more adaptable in their business dealings and transactions either locally or internationally. Business plan so that they can achieve their goals e.g. in using the swot analysis by analysing situation internally which is the strength and weakness of the organisation and external analysis looking at the strength and weaknesses. For Micro, SMEs and corporate Businesses, their approach to Corporate social responsibility is quite similar in that they ensure that the human rights of their employees are a priority, ensuring that employees do have a right to join any union, health and safety is been observed at workplace, also that there is no child labourer working for the organisation and that they do not contribute to global warming e.g. recycling,   no illegal dealings either nationally or internationally, and that they support poverty alleviation in developing countries. DIFFERENT TYPES OF STRATEGIES THAT BUSINESSES USE TO OPERATE IN AN ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE WAY When companies observe Corporate Social Responsibility and basically incorporate it into the daily culture of the organisation they are behaving in an ethical manner. When an organisation, firm or enterprise observe some of this practices such as ensuring that there is no water wastage by recycling it, clean water, minimises air pollution, reducing an organisations carbon footprint ensure health and safety at workplace, they are operating in a sustainable way that will lead them having a competitive advantage over other companies. Also they are operating strategically and in a sustainable way when a company looks for ways to ensure that it makes an impact in the community by creating jobs locally, probably in a community that it is obvious that it is disadvantaged. If it does not use children as staff i.e. child labour or does not do anything that might negatively impact the health and wellbeing of its worker, wages and salaries should be fair, recruitment as well should not be discriminating   a safe working environment, creating opportunities for career development or improving skills of employees, which will lead to employees been retained rather than looking for other job opportunities that will improve their prospects in the future, also providing benefits for those that will eventually retire, which will make employees have something to look forward to. Ensuring also that pollution is not an issue and that waste are been reduced in their manufacturing processes. Inner Vision: an Exploration of Art and the Brain, by Semir Zeki Is artistic expression intertwined with the inner workings of the brain more than we would ever have imagined? Author and cognitive neuroscientist Semir Zeki certainly thinks so. Zeki is a leading authority on the research surrounding the "visual brain". In his book Inner Vision, he ventures to explain to the reader how our brain actually perceives different works of art, and seeks to provide a biological basis for the theory of aesthetics. With careful attention to details and organization, he manages to explain the brain anatomy and physiology involved when viewing different works of art without sounding impossibly complicated – a definite plus for scientists and non-scientists alike who are interested in the topic of art and the brain. Throughout the book, Zeki supports his arguments by presenting various research experiments, brain image scans, and plenty of relevant artwork to clarify everything described in the text. By mostly focusing on modern masterpieces (which include Vermeer, Michelangelo, Mondrian, kinetic, abstract, and representational art), he convincingly explains how the color, motion, boundaries, and shapes of these unique works of art are each received by specific pathways and systems in the brain that are specially designed to interpret each of these particular aspects of the art, as opposed to a single pathway interpreting all of the visual input. The subject matter that Zeki approaches here is no easy topic to clearly explain to others, especially since a whole lot remains to be discovered in the field itself. Yet Zeki does a superb job of explaining. In my neurobiology class, I recently learned that if we bang our arm or rub... ... Overall, I think that the book is deeply intriguing and engaging – it draws the reader in so intensely that she cannot break free until she reads the very last page. Zeki manages to bring to light so many new ideas about the visual brain. He takes what little we do know about the brain and distinguishes myth from fact. It is interesting to note how much of the book is really just hypothetical guesses proposed by Zeki, since there is still so much about the physiological workings of the brain that we have yet to discover. Nevertheless, I found it fun to read the book and compare the known facts to the theories and make guesses as to what might actually be found to be true someday. This is a most delightful book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in uncovering the mysterious links that exist between the brain and visual art.

There was a big increases when the war started. -When men were called to the home front women were there to replace them. -Women did many different kinds of work. -they worked in the chemical and explosive industry,made shells and bombs, electrical cable and wire, uniforms, clothing etc.. -Around 7 million women were employed during the war. -Many women never worked before and had to learn how to cope with it all. (e.x. coping with working and taking care of their family) -Some had to travel far to work. -Some had to work part time so they could look after their children. -Some work for women was dangerous and risky. I like how I colored coded the plan and added check boxes next to the task. This helped me to stay organized and to see my progress. I thought overall I did a good job with keeping up with my reï ¬â€šection plan. Except for 2 days where I did not complete the OPVl. But ended up completing them the next couple of days. I think the action plan did help me with this task. It kept me organized and on task.

Luqman Rohaizat (5 Omega 2009) At first thought, caning may seem like an inhumane punishment for students, who are not yet fully matured in their thinking, and are still learning along the way. â€Å"It just hurts them, physically and emotionally, without doing anything else† I hear concerned parents say. But then again, is there a more effective way to punish and control students? Moreover, nowadays there seems to be a noticeable rise in disciplinary problems involving students in schools nationwide. We need to find an explanation for this rise in disciplinary problems, in order to find the ideal solution for the problem. By my knowledge, we can clearly relate the rise in disciplinary problems with the withdrawal of caning, or any sort of physically inflicted pain, as a punishment for students. What I mean is, when students don’t get punished, they will get into more trouble in the future. Based on this, I fully agree that caning is an effective way to punish students. This is where caning can be part of the solution. Please, let me explain. Students get into trouble because it is their nature to make lots of mistakes and learn through them. Yes, they learn new and important things in life through mistakes. It is okay to make one or two mistakes once in a while, but when a student gets into trouble, or keeps repeating the same mistakes one too many times, this indicates a problem. Maybe the student does not realize that he is causing trouble, or hurting other people. For all we know he might even be enjoying causing trouble. If this student is not punished, he is certain to do more harm again, and this is not good for everybody. As a solution, caning will make the student realize that what he is doing is wrong, and that he should never make this mistake again. As you can see, caning becomes part of the long-term solution to shape a student’s thinking pattern, for the benefit of himself. Another thing to consider is that because of the withdrawal of caning as a punishment for students, our students’ respect for their teachers and their school has dwindled. Respect is an important virtue for every student, and if the student does not develop the value of respect within himself, he will never succeed in life. Nowadays, students are becoming more and more outrageous, with cases ranging from stealing and smoking to doing drugs, or even sexual crimes. It seems that this younger generation has lost respect and fear of their teachers, parents, and has no sort of shame at all for that matter. The only way to instill fear and respect in these students for their teachers is by giving teachers the responsibility of caning troubled students. Through caning, these students will learn the consequences of their crimes and avoid negative behavior. Hurting the students a little bit is for their own good, and is a low price to pay compared to a jeopardized future. Nonetheless, caning is an effective tool to improve students’ discipline, if and only if it is done the right way, taking the necessary precautions and steps. Caning will not achieve the desired results, if done without thought and order. Teacher cannot cane students just because they feel like doing so. What is the benefit in that? In my opinion, only certain teachers should uphold the responsibility of caning students. It would be best if the responsibility is given to the disciplinary teachers of the school. It is in their field to punish students, and disciplinary teachers are the best people for the job. If a student gets into serious trouble, he or she would be sent to the disciplinary teacher’s office, for a session of caning. May I add that even though students are fully matured in their thinking and behaviour, they are still fully able to think rationally. Thus, teachers must deal with students in a professional manner, and not treat them like little children. They should be told the troubles they have caused, and why they deserve to be caned for them. We should make the student understand the punishment they have received, so they will not repeat it. Public caning, especially during assemblies, is strictly prohibited, as humiliation will not do any good to students. Caning can be a solution, if done correctly and with reason. In short, I think that caning should be fully allowed in schools, with the necessary precautions applied, for the benefit of everybody. Caning, as a punishment, is effective, keeps troubles away, and is for the students’ long term benefit. Besides, getting the cane once or twice never hurt our parents. Are Ghosts An Illusion Of The Mind Philosophy Essay Ghosts are just one of the many subtopics that reside within the topic of paranormal. Paranormal experiences are studied using parapsychology: a scientific approach to supposedly â€Å"paranormal† experiences. With the use of H. J. Irwin’s brilliant book called, â€Å"An Introduction to Parapsychology Third Edition†, and Bobby Elgee’s article called, â€Å"‘Evidence’ of the Paranormal and Ghosts†, we are able to deduce a theoretically sound explanation of what is paranormal and since when has the topic been studied. Then, we analyze the survival hypothesis and the ability of a soul to live outside the body. After, we proceed to the definition of ghosts and their usual whereabouts while setting the conditions that they usually appear in as well as to who they appear. Finally, we go on to claiming that these experiences are not really ghosts, but either hallucinations or just simply paranormal due to the witnesses’ wild conclusion that it couldn’t be anything other than a ghost. Ghosts: An Illusion of the Mind Ghosts are not what you think they are, far from it. They aren’t the friendly little ghost you see in â€Å"Casper†, nor are they the â€Å"Bloody Baron† from SpongeBob Squarepants who haunts the ocean for eternity. They might not even be anything at all, just a word people exploit to an unknown object which might have a logical explanation. Yet, most cultures in the world believe in the body having a soul which like the heart, can exist and survive in another body. Yet, even if such an idea is generally believe by a large population of the world, it may not be true. Thought or belief proves nothing, for if it were, then a group could believe in radioactive helicopter bunnies and it would be fact. Yet, people need proof, therefore, to believe ghosts, we need proof that they exist. Life isn’t neither what people see in movies, read in books nor see in pictures. Therefo re, neither are ghosts. In order to prove ghosts don’t exist, we have to analyze the parapsychological and the paranormal, the survival theory, the situations in which ghost usually appear and how most experiences are most likely fakes. According to Bobby Elgee, â€Å"the word ‘paranormal’ simply means ‘not scientifically explainable.'† (Elgee, 2009, pg 1) Meanwhile, parapsychology is known â€Å"as the study of apparent anomalies of behavior and experience that exist apart from currently known explanatory mechanisms that account for organism-environment and organism-organism information and influence flow† (Irwin, 1999, pg 1). Therefore, it is the commutation of a being to another, or a being to a surrounding. In other words, parapsychology is using a scientific approach to study experiences that may be paranormal and â€Å"to determine whether or not the evident paranormal quality of a given class of parapsychological experience is authenti c or ontologically real.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 9) According to Irwin, â€Å"recorded instances of parapsychological experiences of course may be found among all cultures and in all historic periods.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 13) Yet, the testing of such experiences for accuracy and authenticity was slower to emerge. Some, â€Å"such as Henry More and Joseph Glanvill showed themselves alert to the possibility of fraud, delusion, and unreliable observation†, but their views more religious than scientific as they were â€Å"endeavoring to ascertain the earthly presence of the devil and diabolical forces.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 14) It was later that Francis Bacon made a call â€Å"for objective scrutiny of parapsychological experiences† (Irwin, 1999, pg 14) which was more scientific than More and Glanvill, but â€Å"at the time society was not receptive to such a view and Bacon’s arguments went unheeded.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 14) Then, a center in England call ed the Society for Psychical Research where parapsychologists are â€Å"united in their conviction that the objective investigation of parapsychological phenomena was called for, despite the prevailing disinterest in such research among the established divisions of science.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 13) Even today, most of society disregards the subject as scientific, yet â€Å"parapsychology is under taken as a scientific endeavor regardless of its subject matter, flaws in any of its research procedures, and the skeptical rhetoric of its critics.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 2) Therefore, Irwin states that, â€Å"All ESP experiences thus are parapsychological, but we require proof that any of them could be paranormal.† (Irwin, 1999, pg 2)

The teacher’s comments highlighted weaknesses in my paper, which helped me write better by going over the literature again making me understand some key concepts I had overlooked. I wrote a good argumentative paper with superb presentation of evidence but failed to write a satisfactory conclusion. I used outdated evidence, which is not acceptable, and the paper had some grammatical mistakes. With the teacher’s comments, I was able to correctly write some of the statements with all the necessary information that I had omitted. I corrected the grammatical mistakes and paraphrased some of the sentences to make them have more impact and meaning. How does Telemachus Essay To begin with, we meet Telemachus in book1 when Athena (goddess of wisdom) decided to visit Odysseus’ son. The great Odysseus is in need of rescue and the gods have decided that it is time that the kleos (fame and glory that is often achieved in battle but is passed down from father to son). Telemachus is sent by Athena to build up his and his father’s kleos. Telemachus is described as constantly â€Å"daydreaming† about his long last father whilst 108 suitors take liberty on his xenia. Book two shows Telemachus believing more in his father; however he still hasn’t come out of his royal shell. He takes Athena’s advice and dresses like Odysseus. With war-like attire, he assembles the suitors. An angry speech later leaves the suitors in shock. This shows Telemachus’ dominance and how easily influenced he is. Finally Telemachus decides to put the suitors in their place with shows real potential to his confidence growing. The suitors decided to blame Penelope for their extended stay by her excessive teasing as well as false promises. Telemachus refuses to believe their words as he stays loyal to his mother. He tries to protect her and gets back to the matter at hand. Telemachus leaves in the night on his journey however he does tell maid Eurycleia his plans. We can see how loyal Odysseus’ family is to each other: Penelope refusing to remarry and Telemachus travelling to find the truth even after the years have passed. Book three leads us into Nestor’s palace (a friend of Odysseus) to which we see Telemachus still being portrayed as a coward. In only an overnight journey, he is extremely nervous about offending the wise man with his questions or insulting him. The Greek stereotype of a man is a brave, young, courageous person. They must be almost God-like by obtaining great traits to show heroic strengths. Telemachus is definitely not this stereotype however a lot of Nestor’s sons are. This shows how Nestor’s sons have great kleos and heroic tendencies compared to Telemachus’ potential. Even though Telemachus is almost the opposite of a man in characteristics, he has potential to be as great as his father due to him being called â€Å"god-like† even when his traits would be to differ. Once again, Athena leads Telemachus to Nestor’s palace. Telemachus questions Athena on whether he is allowed to question an elder ego proving Telemachus’ worries and yet morals to traditional actions. Peisistratus, one of Nestor’s sons, instantly takes them by the hand to offer them great xenia (forced hospitality) and welcomes them in thus showing how a young male of the same age as Telemachus is more confidant and braver than himself. This could show Telemachus’ potential when it comes to becoming a man. As soon as Nestor mentions the battle of Troy, it brings a tear to Telemachus’ eye. This is because of the multiple similarities Nestor points out between Telemachus and Odysseus, once again showing his potential to be his father. Telemachus is relying on Athena to help him without fail. By book four we start to see kleos in action. Upon meeting Menalus (an old king who also fought beside Odysseus in Troy) we see that Athena has left Telemachus. This shows how braver Telemachus is as he starts to become independent as he is ready to meet Menalus. Peistratus is still accompanying Telemachus and is the first to speak to Menalus. His role is to support Telemachus and begins to state why they are there as well as introducing the King to Telemachus. We see Telemachus’ â€Å"heroic† stature coming through as he refuses Menalus’ glorious gift. With charm flowing from him, he takes the news of his father in his stride as he hears about Clypso’s island. Overall, Telemachus changes from a coward who spent 20 years daydreaming about a father he has never met to a strong god-like protagonist. Although he is not fully a man yet nor a hero, he is showing true potential as he is building his kleos up. He will become like his father if his progress continues. Telemachus is being turned into a man with the help of Athena and family friends.

Personal Development: Plans and Theories A person when chooses some specific job or field of work or engage him in particular activities such engagements are known as his profession. Every profession has its own requirements which the professional has to fulfill being to known as skilled professional of the same. Economic environment as well as business environment is changing dynamically therefore, it requires improvement in performing activities or skills of the professional to run with the age. New discoveries and inventions are being removing problems of business and economic environment and also are improving the standard of working and making the performance of work easy and more efficient but a professional can only take the advantage of those discoveries and inventions when he will improve or develop his skills according to the pace of changings. I started my career from the job of an accountant but I now found myself more improve than before, because when I started the job I had not adept in computer operating and relevant operating software prevailing at that time but then I observed that if I shall not effort to learn the prevailing computer software then my skill shall be remained undeveloped and I shall not be able to grow/develop with the pace of dynamic changes then I started for developing my professional skills through learning and getting help and assistance from my managers and now I have become the assistant accountant of the organization. Personal development means to improve the innate abilities or learned skills which a person possesses as God gifted or learned from some institution or his seniors or managers. Professional development is indeed personal development such as when I started my job I had lack of confidence that may be I could not be performed my job properly but when I learned the skills and effort to improve my professional skills then, on the other hand I found myself confident about my working because my hesitation has been abolished and my morale has been grown up. Therefore, in my view personal development entirely basis on professional development because hesitation and confusion are personal factors which become hindrance in the way of ones professional success and it only remove when ones professional skills develop and in this way the requirements of the profession are satisfied and it also improve the efficiency and performance of him. Organizational and Personal Goals Objectives Organizational goals and objectives belongs to goals and objectives of one group who are working for their mutual benefits because organizations progress is their progress, in other words every member of organization represent the goals and objectives of the organization because his progress and organization progress is interconnected. Organization itself is nothing but it is known with the group who is running and representing it. Personal goals and objectives are the ambitions and aims of one individual which he plans and achieves through his personal and professional skills. Just as every individual desires to be the best in every aspect as in his personal life and professional life but he can be if he plans for to achieve them. An organization expects good and efficient performance from each of its worker/member and every individual of the organization expects good remuneration as consideration of his professional skills which should be sufficient to satisfy his demands and desires and indeed the demands of an individual are the goals and objectives because he supposes that at a particular post or rank he shall be able to satisfy them therefore, goals and objectives of an organization and an individual are reciprocal because an individual meets with the expectations of an organization only when the organization satisfy his goals and objectives and in the same way an organization do the same when the individual returns the same as the organization expects from him, therefore, an individual can only achieve his, as well as of organizational goals and objectives if he improves his personal and professional skills. A better performer achieves more in short span and lazy one waste a lot and achieves less. Methods for Developing Personal and Professional Skills Different people possess different intellectual ability of understanding and performing and also have different innate and God gifted abilities therefore, when one teacher teaches one class together then it is impossible to say that all the students have understood the concepts which have been conveyed to them by the teacher although all the students have different problems in same lesson. It is therefore, important for every student or individual to realize the method through which he can learn easily and whether the method is compatible to his intellectual abilities. Therefore, different methods attract different person at one time due to the compatibility of their abilities with the method so adopted or supposed to be adopted because the efficiency/personal skills and professional skills of every individual are not equal to other. Following are the methods for developing personal and professional skills:- Development through Learning Learning is such a method which keeps one in touch with the inventions, changes and challenges which directly affect the performance and efficiency of organizations and of individuals and it also keeps in touch the learners with required solutions and techniques through which they can get them out from the problems. Learning basically reflects the ideas and practical works of the authors who share their experiences with other through books, notes and reports and also provide their conclusions of particular professions on the basis of material works which help the learners in solving their prevailing problems. In my view learning is such a method through which only theories and ideology of one or more authors could be observed or consulted but practical work is missing from such concepts. Business strategies and methods of doing business are different in different countries because different countries different factors affect the environment and there are no hard and fast rules of doing and running businesses and all the businesses have different problems in same economic environment because nature and size of all the businesses are different and the person doing the business and the strategies of executive management who is controlling the organizations activities are different, political atmosphere and government policies regarding the concern business are also different then how they could be considered and controlled according to one or more theories based methods which are also of different persons. In my view development through learning is not a comprehensive method but partially it is useful for learner to the extent of knowledge about dynamic changes and future challenges. Development through Apprenticeship Development is process in which a person struggles to maintain the quality what he knows and also struggles in the same time to improve or develop his skills more efficiently so that he could be able to achieve his personal goals and objectives by playing his effective role also in achieving the organizational goals and objectives. Apprenticeship a very useful method of development of personal and professional skills because in this method one can apply his knowledge what he learnt during his education under the supervision and support of managers and mentors and also can practically remove his hesitation about concerned working and can build confidence reliance on the feedback from the seniors. When I started my apprenticeship right after studies, I was thinking, how I shall do my duties, what would be behavior of the seniors towards juniors, shall I be able to be a good accountant and many more questions were in my mind and I was hesitating because I was joining a new environment in which I was totally unknown from every work and every person but during my apprenticeship my seniors played very positive role in removing my hesitations, building my confidence, facilitation me in my working, supporting me in all the way they can and aware me with the techniques to removing hindrances. They always answered my every question about my field. Now up to today I feels that many developments have been occurred in me because my confidence level has been grown more than my expectations because now I know almost all the techniques to work effectively even in pressure and I can plan and settle goals. This is all because of apprenticeship method of development. Self Managed Development It is such a method of development in which the individual arrange for learning and developing personally through any means which he considered useful for him. Individual takes all the initiative to learn, training and knowledge with the help of the organization because it is the organization that has to provide him time to its employee to improve his skills and sometimes the organization pays the fee to the courses and training of its employee. A skilled employee is asset of organization but dynamic changes required him to improve his skills to work with the pace of changes and this is possible only when the process of development of individual is in accordance to inventions and dynamic changes in the culture of economy and business. An organization plays very important role in the development of its skilled individual because to improve the skills of its best employees, it has to arrange training program, seminars, meetings for discussion and all the other possible ways through which it can help its employees for development because efficient employee perform good and also plays its effective role in the achievement of organizational goals and objectives. When an organization provide opportunities to its employees for development of his professional skills then it is indeed providing opportunity to develop his personal skills in the main time because when an individual knows all the ways to perform or face challenges connected to same task then he can work more confidently and his hesitation has been finished and i.e. is the basic factor through which the assessment of development could be measured. Development through Coaching Coaching is such a development method in which all the focus is kept only on specific work and all the skills required to perform that very work. Normally coaching method is used for short span of time in such a scenario when the senior employee is getting retired from the organization and such senior employee is held with the responsibility to coach his succession with the all skills and techniques required for effective performance and market culture and all the other connected ways. Senior has to coach the successor with all the prevailing techniques and inventions up to date and culture of the organization to face and work in external environment and he also has to convey the ways with which he can work under pressure and work load and also to defeat he rival acts of the competitors. Under the method of development through coaching the individual is getting advantage from the practical experience of his coach and the coach as culture of all the organizations is not same even if t hese are connected one industry or field therefore, for effective performance it is compulsory for every employee of the organization to know the culture of the organization. Coaching is the best way through which one can focus only on the techniques and modes for effective and considerable performance in one field and can save his time even to waste by spending in other activities which are general and irrelevant to the profession. It is such a method in which the individual can improve and develop his personal and professional skills under the supervision of practical experienced coach to the relevant profession who even teaches the individual all the aspects with which he can develop his skills more effectively and get the positive results by applying those skills in his personal and professional life. In my organization the senior manager account was on leave due to training course in abroad for six months and for such period I was recommended for additional charge and my senior was held with the responsibility to coach me as an alternative of senior manager accounts. During the coaching and practical working under the supervision of my seniors I foun d myself on such a stage where I could not be able to arrive after many years and my skills have been developed at such a stage that I have been promoted for such development. According to me coaching is the best way of development and now all the factors which hesitates me in performance of my duties have been removed from me and my personal skills have also been grown up. Development through Mentoring When one skilled individual offers guidance, support, help and facilitate other in performing their work is known as mentor and the method under which he offers help to others in developing their skills is mentoring. Mentoring is such a method in which an individual is allowed to make mistakes under the supervision of supervisor and to satisfy their questions by getting answers from him. Mentoring and coaching are similar to the extent that in both the methods the mentor and coach help the individuals in developing their skills but in coaching the focus is limited to the extent of job and in mentoring the focus is upon all the field and works being done in organization. Mentoring is a comprehensive method of development which gives knowledge about all the departments and fields of an organization and in this way it waste the time of the individual in such works to which he does not intend to perform or adopt in his future, on the other hand coaching is the best way through which the coach focus only to the extent of particular work and field and conveys all the best possible techniques and tips regarding the solution of problems so relevant and for effective performance which develop the personal and professional skills of the individual. Personal Development Plan Personal and professional skills are reciprocals of each other because without developing anyone other skills could never be developed. Development of professional skills are mainly under focus of mine because I concluded in my professional career that when I was just a raw handed person who had just knowledge about account but no practical experience I was hesitant and had lack of self confidence because I was of the opinion that accounts work is very much difficult but now after starting my professional career and practical working, now I think that accounts work is not a difficult one and I perform my work with confidence and this is all because I struggled to improve my professional skills because improvement of these skills is very much important for me to meet my own goals and objectives and I could not be able to meet my goals until and unless I shall not play my effective role in achieving the organizational goals and objectives and the management of the organization assesses my performance more effective than before. I planned for the achievement of my settled my goals and objectives that I shall mainly focused on my professional skills development and for this I planned that I shall keep myself prominent and dominant through coaching and leadership and shall not miss a single chance of training from organization and in this way I can develop my professional skills as well as my personal skills and also can keep myself prominent in organization. My short term settled goals and objectives are to be the best one in the organizations account department. My long term goals and objectives are to be the best in the company so that the executive management of the organization promotes me head of the account section/department. My future goals are to be the best one in accounts field in all over the world. Action Plan Now to achieve my own goals and objective through the achievement of organizational goals and objectives I arose a suggestion before the executive management of the organization that we should start a learning program in round the department of the organization through which we could develop the skills of the employees by encouraging and facilitating them with the new and latest thoughts and methods in their relevant fields and I account section I offered my services as a coach. If I shall be afforded this opportunity then I shall be able to develop my skills in all the ways and I shall be recommended for all trainings on behalf of the organization and this shall be the success of my plans first stage. Through coaching I shall coach number of employees and satisfy their queries with my practical experience which will improve my position in the organization and also strengthen my confidence and also keep me integer me with the organizations management and employees too. When I started my work on my plan then I had weaknesses such as I was over confident and emotional and my patience was shaky but now I am so calm and believe in practical work not in assumption and my main strength is, I do not afraid from the load of work because my work has become my habit and I feel more relaxed in working than to free time. Thats why my executive likes me a lot and they always want to know my suggestions about the problems solutions and about any new project which the intend to lay down. On the success of my this plan I think that in the short time I shall be able to achieve my own and organizational goals together because both are combined and without the achievement of organizational goals and objectives I could never achieve my owns therefore, my all efforts are for the achievement of organizational goals and objectives. Preferred Learning Styles Learning styles are different of different peoples and it is the mentality of every person relying on which he assesses him that what are his weaknesses and strengths and what are his innate abilities and many other aspects of his professions. As different theorist have difference in their way of thinking and doing same job they present different styles of learning in different ways but indeed they all are presenting same styles there is just difference which is due to their knowledge and mode of explaining. Kolb and Honey and Mumford present different styles but in my view the styles of Honey and Mumford are compressive and therefore, are preferred. Honey and Mumfords Learning Styles According to Honey and Mumford there are four learning styles which are nearly around the Kolbs sequence. They classified they learner into four categories such as activists, reflectors, theorists and pragmatists relying on the preferences of each group that what are there preferences. Activists Activist learners preferences are towards practical working because such learners do not completely rely on theories and in other words theories are not sufficient to satisfy their thirst of queries and such learners do not possess patience. These learners are active and they want to sort result quickly on the basis of practical experience not only on the basis of theories. Generally a great number of such learner is around of us because such learners do not have patience and therefore, they are not consistently perform one work and different confused queries remained in them. Reflectors Reflectors are such learners who just take a concept from the phenomena and think about them and start working on the task. These learners are over confident learner who is anxious in nature and lack of patience. Such learners are not very much successful because they do not possess requisitive knowledge about the task and even dont know about the nature and diversification of work. Their works reflect their competence and skills and the concepts of such learners are not based on practical work but based on assumptions and hear say knowledge. Theorists Theorist are analytical learners who always seek to understand the underlying concepts and they only considers those approaches which are based on logical reasons and reflect logical solutions of problems because such learners remain in touch with the theories and studies and they have practical working experiences. They analyze the situations and scrutinize the factors affecting their work and then do work on the basis of logical and reasonable arguments. Such learners possess serious personality and so efforts for the sake of development of their skills relying on practical and acceptable reasons. Pragmatists These learners are called common sense learners because these learners do not study to improve their skills but the carry on research when the face a practical problem in their works and find the solution of the problems from theories. Pragmatists are best practical experienced employees or learners who are almost expert of their works which they are doing and are consistent worker but when the find any problem in their work or require any invention to improve the working conditions then the carry on study. As they have practical experience of working their basic concepts are very much clear and they learn quickly. According to me I am a pragmatist learner because I am working as accountant and as a coach in my organization therefore, I always doing practical work during my working hours and almost very well aware of the routine problems and therefore, I do not have need of so much learning but when any employee or trainee asked a unique or different question which I never observed then I effort to satisfy my concepts and to rightly answer the question so put to me. On the other hand I dont think that I have need of daily study just to repeat my work because account work is routine practice which is making me more conversant to my profession and also developing my both personal and professional skills. Affect of Learning Styles on Development and Personality It is very much important for everyone to know his weaknesses, strengths and special competitive abilities which make him special because if someone knows this then he not even can choose right profession for him but also can choose the right style of learning because both profession and learning styles last lasting affect on the personality and development of skills. A practical instance from my own life is that during my professional education I had a close friend who was interested to become a doctor but his father wanted him to be an accountant because he was an accountant in a well known organization and he got him admitted in my class but my friend neither be able to become a good accountant because his interests were in medical studies and he had abilities that he could become a doctor. Right from that time I got it considered that if a person chooses wrong profession and wrong learning style which is not compatible to his innate abilities then he could never be develop his skills ever his personal life adequately. Important Management Skills Management is a very difficult job because a manager is responsible for his work and as well as the work done by any employee under him therefore, a manager should possess the following personal and professional skills to perform his duties adequately and according to the requirement of work:- Personal Skills Manager is a person whom has been authorizes to supervise the employees under him and get positive results from them in shape of effective and considerable performance. In my view a manager should possess the abilities and skills of motivation, goals setting, leadership, hard working, loving, patience and many more. A manager is authorize by the authorities to direct the employee of his team for smooth and effective results from them to complete a task assigned to him within in the particular time and budget. Professional Skills Good professionals are selected as managers because they are supposed to lead and direct one team and also have to support, help out and facilitate the members of their teams. Therefore, in my view the managers should posses the skills of team management, task oriented, work in pressure, calm minded, controlling, briefing, debating and patience etc. Conclusion From the research, consultation, discussion and study on the above explained task it is concluded that organizational goals and personal goals and objectives are names of one thing because when one person is doing job in an organization then his goals and objectives are the success of the organization in which he is working because he knows that his effective working can make him able to meet with the expectations of the organization from him and which shall be return to him by the organization in shape of rewards and promotions which is actually his a positive part of his goals and objectives. It is further concluded that personal skills can be developed when ones professional skills are developed because if a person doesnt know any thing about the work he is suppose going to do then he will definitely hesitate and avoid from such work but when he shall know every aspect of the work then he shall perform his work more efficiently and effectively without hesitating because his possess the professional skills about such work. Therefore, development of professional skills is more compulsory for personal development.

Skiing is one of the things to do during the winter, here in Canada. It is also cheap and easy to start, since there are ski-tracks almost everywhere and it is possible to find used skis for less then $50. Skis are pretty simple in design. Originally they were designed just as the snow shoes, though today they are much more advanced. (Wikipedia) Skis can be used just after you bought them, without doing anything to them. However, if you want your skis to perform to their best, simple maintenance needs to be performed. One of the best and easiest way to do so is to apply wax. One can be confused at first by the variety of waxes available on the market. To see that, just check ski section in local Beaver Sports store. In reality, just one or couple waxes needed to get started. I'm going to explain how to wax your skis for the diagonal stride technique and what exactly waxing does to the skis. Ski structure Cross country skis are bent vertically. That allows for using different kind of wax depending whether person is sliding or kicking. When buying skis, you should choose ones that are made for your mass. If they are for bigger person, skis will be less bendable, thus area of contact will be only on the ends. If they are for smaller person, skis will be unbent most of the time. That is not very good, because it would slow the person down. Ideally we want all the area of the ski to be in contact with the snow when pressure is applied and middle section off the snow when sliding. Friction is force dependant, meaning it changes depending on force applied. Ff = F * ÃŽ ¼ Glide wax is applied to the front and the end of the skies, this way when person removes force from one leg, friction becomes less and ski slides. The ski is unbent when force is applied to it. Friction between snow and wax in the midsection increases so that it grips enough for a kick. Coefficient of static friction of the kick wax is only big enough for "the snow irregularities dig into wax irregularities just enough to give a motionless ski bite, or grip." (Brady) At the moment when ski gains velocity, it is not at rest anymore, and since ÃŽ ¼k is less then ÃŽ ¼s, friction is not big enough to hold the ski.

House on Mango Street Essay -- Book Review Poverty Education Essays

House on Mango Street The story; themes; and implications for teaching from the House on Mango Street come from showing how today’s society has low expectations for those in the inner city. This book can be used to show what inner life is like and how these people are looked at and treated by others in society. Using this book in the classroom can be beneficial because many people have negative preconceptions of what life is really like as a minority. I know that I think of inner city schools and the students that attend them as underprivileged and don’t hold them to the same standards as I do others from smaller more suburban towns. Going to Milwaukee this semester has been a culture shock and I think that reading this book compliments are experiences doing our observation and participation. This story is about a young Spanish girl, Esperanza, who is growing up in the Latino section of Chicago. She is embarrassed of where she lives because of the poor conditions of her house, the mice that run freely around her, and the neighborhood she comes from. Her neighborhood is inner city living where the cops are looked at as the bad people in the neighborhood, homeless people sleep in the streets, and she has seen many other bad things including rape and abuse. Esperanza struggles to fit into her new home because she has moved so often. She can’t find and keep friends. Esperanza doesn’t want to fit though because all she can think about is getting out of there and having the white picket fence in the suburbs someday. She does not consider her house on Mango Street her home. It is more of a temporary dwelling until she can get out of there. She works hard at a young age to help her family with the money problems. The story is also about finding some good friends in her new home and her adventures with them. The most interesting themes, issues and characters are Esperanza and her dreams of getting out of the house on Mango Street. This book keeps you captured by telling stories of how she wants to get out of the city and off Mango Street. They are all very interesting and this is what makes the book so fun to read. Making friends and keeping them is also an important issue in this young girls life because she moves so often. I think these things are interesting because I can relate to wanting to get out of where I was when I ... ...go Street. It is eye opening and after taking this class and others like it, I look at these books in a different light. This book seemed like an accurate portrayal of what life must have been like for this girl and I could tell I was emotionally into it. I could feel her pain even though I have not gone through these things first hand as she has. It was a sad story but I think it got the point across without saying â€Å"feel sorry for me because I live in the inner city.† This book can be used with students to show that people from diverse populations are just like you and me. They just want to live a healthy and fulfilling life with friends and family. Most of them are trying to make a better life for themselves any way possible. This will help my students see others as equals and not as people of lesser value. I think it can also be used with inner city children to show that nobody is going to feel sorry for them and if they want a better life than they have to earn it themselves. Nobody is going to give them free hand outs all their lives and if they want something bad enough then they have to work for it. This book can be a powerful tool in teaching that to students.
